The myth of the self-driving SOC

It’s tempting to imagine cybersecurity finally “solved” by machines, agents on every endpoint, models watching every channel, an immutable ledger verifying every event. Valuable, yes. Sufficient, no.

Security isn’t just a data problem; it’s a judgment problem. Two incidents can look identical to a model, same pattern, same signature, yet deserve completely different responses in the real world. Context, consequences, and culture don’t live in log lines. They live with people.

The logs now include her decision and a chain-verified event trail for later reviews.

The ethics of “smart”

The faster systems get, the more we owe users restraints by design.
